Our Legal Team
Paul Gostelow - Director / Solicitor
With 26 years experience in law, Paul has honed our practice’s reputation for providing quality legal services both in and out of court.
Paul delivers in-depth advice and representation on a range of family law services, civil court matters and private law, ranging from the law of parent and child, separation and divorce, adoption, landlord and tenant through to powers of attorney and guardianship.
Paul provides a trusting, confidential and informative environment where clients can obtain quality advice and representation on which to base the important decisions they have to reach. This professional approach to providing legal services is at all times underpinned by an understanding that as solicitors we are often dealing with people at their most vulnerable.
As well as representing individual clients, Paul is an Accredited Family Law Mediator and is often appointed by the Court to prepare Child Welfare Reports in challenging child residence and contact cases and as a Safeguarder or Curator in adoption or guardianship cases. Paul is a member of the PVG scheme and has full disclosure for working with children.
Gillian Baker - Director / Solicitor
Gillian is a court solicitor with 24 years of experience and a special interest in the interaction between family law, domestic abuse and access to justice. Gillian started her own firm in 2003, initially providing legal services to women affected by domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence via legal surgeries based within women's aid groups and other third sector organisations, before opening offices in Blantyre and then Hamilton. She headed up a domestic abuse legal project in 2007/08 under a Scottish Executive Community Safety Partnership Award, and from 2014 -19 ran a BIG Lottery funded domestic abuse legal advice project in Stirling while on sabbatical from her firm.
Gillian returned to work in the firm in 2019, and last year completed a PhD funded by Edinburgh Napier University which examines mother's experiences of Scottish child contact cases in Court involving allegations of domestic abuse. Gillian was formerly a tutor on the Business and Financial Awareness course on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde, and on the Family Law course at Edinburgh Napier University.
Gillian's practise comprises a range of family law matters and a mix of private and legal aid family casework, Child Welfare Reports and partnership work with the statutory and third sectors delivering specialist, trauma-informed legal services to women experiencing domestic abuse.

I felt from day one that someone was on my side and understood where I was coming from. It gave me a lot of confidence to try to make things better for me and the children. I was also told up front how much it would cost me and given affordable options to pay fees."
